In 1 Rue Bellechasse fronting River Seine seats the famous Museum d' Orsay in Paris. It is in the center of the city, perfect and easily accessible location.
The best way to get to the Museum is through the metro system. After that, you may stop on Solferino or Musee d' Orsay station. From these stations, it will only be a few meters away from Orsay. It can easily be reached because signposts are everywhere.
Among the museums in Paris, of course with the exception of Louvre, this museum is the home of the biggest and widest array of artworks collection.
Majority of Museum d' Orsay's exhibits are by French painters and sculptors who made their name during period from the mid-1800s to the advent of WW I.
The art pieces of primary interest to almost all visitors at the Museum d'Orsay are those belonging to the eminent French Impressionists including Monet, Renoir and Sisley to name but a few. However, artwork from the post impressionist and art nouveau schools is also well depicted at the museum and is popular with visitors to d'Orsay.
The Museum is seated in a huge building that was really put up to be a railway station. The Museum d'Osay opened in its present capacity in 1986 and the building and the artworks within it are set out on three levels. Most of art nouveau collections are placed on the middle level, while the impressionist collections are exhibited on the top floor.
Working time of the museum during Tuesdays to Saturdays is from 10 AM to 6 PM. On Sundays, as more people are visiting Orsay, it opens its doors at 9 AM.
Museum d' Orsay tickets are available at the following rates: 7 euros per standard ones, 6 euros for reduced tickets that are for those aged 26 and below and 5 euros for everyone every Sundays. They are all valid for a single day allowing you to get in and out of the premises throughout the day.
But if you want to get to visit various art museums in the City of Paris, like Orsay, it's desirable to get their Paris museum pass.
