Ask any experienced hunter, a bear is one of the most exciting animals for game not only for bragging rights but for the actual thrill of being able to successfully catch one. It takes a lot of guts, patience and skill to track and stalk a bear so being able to catch one earns the hunter bragging rights, and rightfully so.
Hunting Laws. To hunt a bear, careful preparation is essential. Bear hunting laws vary depending on the state you live in so you need to do your research and secure hunting licenses and permits. Some states only allow hunting for certain types and gender of bears to preserve the population. Violating the law will result to heavy fines, confiscation of equipment or even jail time.
Also needed are ear muffs or ear plugs for the obvious reason of protecting the ears from the blast of gun shots. Moreover, wearing them mutes the noise from the surrounding to give you better concentration. The eyes must also be protected from flying debris so wear safety goggles all the time.
Hunting Equipment. Some equipment you need for bear hunting include binoculars to be able to watch at a distance as you have to be as far as possible from the bear to be safe; scents that will mask your natural smell because bears have keen sense of smell; unscented insect repellant; camouflage for disguise; map, compass or GPS unit to locate. If misfortune has befallen you during your hunt and a bear suddenly attacks you, you need to equip yourself with a weapon for protection. The best tool for this is the Frontiersman bear pepper spray. It shoots up to 35 feet in range which is very useful considering charging bears can cover 30 feet in just one second.
Steel targets come in different types and are made of high quality and durable steel that assures longevity. They are easy to install and when hit, they have an automatic reset mechanism which is very convenient because you don't need to walk to the target every after each time you hit it. Some steel targets don't even need to be assembled as they are ready to use upon purchase. So don't worry if you're not the handy type and if you don't have the tools for building. The steel targets are foldable for easy storage so making a mess afterwards won't be a problem.
Now that you have a good idea on how great target shooting is as a hobby you can now start planning when to start your new hobby. Just make sure to start with the legal documentations and safety tips for handling firearms. This is the most crucial part. Once you get this done you can smoothly move forward into starting your shooting hobby.
