by Ellen Halliday

If you are affected by irritant contact dermatitis then there are many reasons why this may have occurred. Many people are affected by this condition and in some cases it can lead to you feeling a great deal of discomfort. Thankfully there are a lot of different options available to you when it comes to treating the condition.

This is generally caused by irritation to the skin which is due to exposure to chemicals. It is more common in people who clean on a regular basis and have regular contact with detergents. It can also affect people who do not do this sort of thing professionally but are regularly in charge of household chores.

In addition less serious kinds of this problem occur as a reaction to cleansers and shampoos which may contain ingredients that your body responds negatively to and this will result in your skin having a bad reaction to it. Problems like this take longer for you to react to but the results will be similar only less extreme.

Your skin will be affected by a blotchy rash that is red. There have been more extreme reactions in different people. Generally apart from the blotches you will feel a noticeable itching This can even lead to you feeling pain and discomfort. In some cases you will be afflicted by scabs which are oozing and this is a more extreme form of the problem which makes it more likely the problem will spread

You can stop exposing the outer layer of the skin affected to water. Having too much water can have a detrimental effect on you and even dry out certain parts of you skin and cause damage to the barrier function of the epidermis which leads to notable disruption. Avoiding water helps to address this.

Using the right moisturizer will also be useful as a way of addressing this issue. It helps if you opt for one which has no artificial ingredients and is without perfume. If you choose one that has these in them this can lead to the occurrence of further irritation.

Irritant contact dermatitis may be avoided when you are cautious around chemicals and choose t wear gloves during any of the cleaning tasks you undertake. If you find that this dos not improve matters then usually you'll have to visit a doctor who will prescribe you with a steroid cream to apply to the affected area.
