Natural Skin Maintenance Regarding Nappy Irritation

by Pheobe McAllister

The skin of babies can be incredibly sensitive, and so nappy rashes are frequent. For both the child and the parents, this can make things particularly miserable. If you want to go for natural skin care for nappy rash, though, there are options. Companies exist that produce products that contain natural components to replicate creams made of synthetic materials.

These can, also, be very gentle for use on a small child. These ingredients are quite often much healthier, too, than other things. One thing that is used in particular is chamomile. This comes from a plant that is daisy-like, and it is extract used in things such as tea and similar things. It is recognisable for its smell which is both calming and subtle. For rashes, it is particularly soothing, and so it can be very suitable.

Just a bit is often used, though, as chamomile can sometimes be harmful. Calendula is another thing that is frequently used and it is often called a pot marigold. This can also reduce inflammation and sooth skin that is irritated, making it another thing that can be useful in treating rashes.

The lack of harmful chemicals means that your child will be less likely to feel the irritation. It is also usually waterproof since this keeps the rash area protected from further irritation as it is soothed. Another common component is beeswax which comes from bees. This can serve as a barrier, which is what supplies the waterproof aspect.

The use of beeswax can be a problem for many people, since it is not a vegan product. If you are vegan, and want all of the products that you and your family use to follow this, then you should check for beeswax if you use such products. There are many oils used, as well, such as sunflower oil or olive oil, which also serve as barrier protection. Olive oil also has a cleansing and moisturizing effect, and this is a good thing for something that is meant to sooth irritation.

Many products have a drying effect on the skin, especially if used far too often. A moisturizing substance is much healthier, and this will be better for your child and could also help stop any future rashes.

Lavender oil is taken from the lavender plant and it is also commonly used. The scent is very recognizable and relief is offered to inflamed areas. Natural skin care for nappy rash can contain many different ingredients, as well as the ones mentioned, here.
