What to look for in good quality newt fencing

As anyone who has used it before will know, newt fencing is designed to protect endangered or protected species of newt from harm during construction or other human development projects. What it does is to keep the newt species in a safe and controlled habitat, so they can't stray into high-risk working areas.
Anyone who is planning a construction or development project will need to get an environmental survey carried out before the project can go ahead. If a protected species of newt are found to be living anywhere near your chosen site, and it is believed that they be harmed by your project, then you will need to use newt fencing to protect them.
If you have never bought newt fencing before, you may need a few clues as to what you should be looking for. The first thing to determine is how long you will need newt fencing in place for. This is usually how long the project will take to complete.
Some projects can be fully finished in as little time as two years. If this is the estimated timespan your project will take to finish, you will only need to put up temporary newt fencing. This is generally made of woven geotextile materials or polythene sheet. For more long-term projects, permanent newt fencing made of galvanised steel or rigid plastic is used.
Your newt fencing may be affected by vandalism, if it is in a public place, or by UV damage. These are other considerations you need to bear in mind when ordering newt fencing.
Of course, it is not advisable to just go out and buy newt fencing on its own, and attempt to put it up yourself. You need to use the services of wildlife fencing expert or ecological contractors. This sort of specialist service can give you advice on what fencing to choose and where to locate it that is specific to your case and your site. Ecological contractors can install it properly too.
