Name A Star, The Ultimate Romantic Gift
by Isaura Downey
Almost everyone, at some time in their life, has looked up to the sky and dreamed of being able to name a star. It's now possible to do this and get a certificate to and confirmed online registration. There are billions of stars that only have scientific classifications. Although the scientific community will maintain using the classifications a repository of star names is maintained to ensure no other person can claim the name.
Naming two neighbouring stars together is also an option. It's amongst the most romantic gestures to be able to look at two neighbouring stars and know that they are named after a couple, or a cluster of stars named after your children. This could be a very unique and memorable gift for a birthday, anniversary, wedding, civil partnership or other special occasion. It is now possible to turn a common fantasy into reality and make using a telescope a little bit more special.
You can see the stars. For a premium charge it can be ensured that the stars will be visible from the city you're based in with the naked eyes. Standard package stars may require a telescope and may not be visible from the hemisphere where you live however they can still be found using various planetarium software packages.
Every named star is launched into space. Periodic launches include the photograph and identity, which brings you just that little bit closer to outer space. It's a very unique and affordable way to connect yourself and your loved ones to space.
Almost any identity is acceptable. With a limit of 39 characters there are very few restrictions. Even long ceremonial names are possible, however some would require multiple stars. For example the longest railway station in Wales has a 51 character name, this would need to be split. Fortunately most names aren't this long! This way any community, club or group could celebrate their identity.
Throughout history stars have been the subject of mysticism. Religions and songs often feature stellar phenomena and they encourage the imagination. With a few exceptions nobody knows how many planets there are around each star or whether life exists. It's a matter of imagination and science fiction that science fact is slowly catching up with.
It is now possible to turn fantasy into reality. When you look up the sky and identify stellar objects after a loved one it has a very special meaning, looking up to the sky and finding the point of light that has your name a star is even more special.
