Getting comfortable with a left handed mouse is only one of the many skills you need to participate in online gaming. The fact is, you can meet new people by playing a game even if you don't currently have gamer friends. One of the great things about spending time playing games like EverQuest is the socializing. With such a large number of people taking part in these games, it's easy to make new friends. If you are sociable and have decent gaming skills, you can make lots of new friends quickly. Playing with friends makes online gaming more enjoyable.
Just remember to treat others well, and never give anyone a hard time if they make mistakes or maybe are not good. On the other hand, should people give you a hard time or say anything negative; just be cool at all times and don't bite on it and say something. As you know, when a big negative flame session breaks out, rarely does it accomplish anything positive and it usually just takes the fun out of it.
If you think someone isn't playing well try to deal with it in a polite way, and privately. The energy can be negatively affected when words are spoken in public that are best kept in private. Basically, online gaming is supposed to just be fun and something to fill some time. Now it exists a separate and huge online community, and they're serious and welcoming to new members. Yet people still just want to have fun with it and be sociable. In this particular community, some of the fun you will have hinges on your equipment (like left handed mouses) and your willingness to learn new things. The very bottom line is to enjoy yourself, meet great people - have fun - be happy!
