10 Steps To A Better Crop

by Castulo Zane

1. Be careful to not over water your plants. When the top part of the soil has dried out water them, and not before. Weed doesn't like to be too wet, and doesn't like wet feet.

2. Be careful with fertilizer. Over fertilizing is dangerous. You can burn the plants. You can also toxify the soil.

3. Start with seeds from a known source. Genetics rule the roost in weed growing. If you don;t know what seeds you have you won;t know what kind of plant to expect. It can be long tall and spindly. It could be an auto-flowering plant. It could be an indica, a sativa or a super smelly skunk that gives your operation away. If you don't mind the risk and want an adventure then grow whatever you like. However, if you're investing a lot of time and effort and want good results start with good seeds.

4. Be careful in germination. use pure water that has had the bleach evaporated out of it. Once the seeds germinate don't handle them too much. Try using flat ended tweezers. The germinated seeds are tough but you can damage the tap root or introduce pathogens that can kill them.

5. Don't tell people about your project. A secret is a secret. Don't share it. The more people who know the better the chances that you'll get caught. It isn't always the law. Your crop can be stolen by unscrupulous people.

6. Don't contaminate your garden with other people's clones or plants. A pest free environment is the best environment. If you get pests they can be tough to eradicate completely. Other plants are a common source of pests, so avoid unknown ones. Practice safe sex!

7. Leave your plants alone! New growers spend too much time worrying about unimportant things. The plants want to grow. Let Mother Nature do her thing. You generally only need to check the plants once each day or two. You can do more, but don't be a freak about it.

8. Don't waste a bunch of money on wonder gadgets and growth hormones. Light and nutrients are all you really need. If you want to experiment and don't mind spending the money, feel free, but a simple approach will give you good results.

9. Follow directions. Whenever you're using fertilizer or pesticides, read the directions carefully. The same applies when checking and adjusting PH.

10. Probably the biggest tip is to create a good environment for plant growth. Weed wants to grow, and it isn't hard to grow. Keep PH between 6.5 and 7. Keep the plants warm. Water them, but keep them drained. For baby plants, seedlings and clones you have to keep high humidity.

Follow these tips and you should have success. Remember, weed is easy to grow. If you're just starting, aim for success, not mind blowing mastery. You can always improve with subsequent crops.
