Getting into the world of online gaming can be intimidating. When you make your grand entrance you're feeling slightly clueless, compared to everyone else, and your newb questions only seem to irritate more experienced players.
If you desire to be accepted into any MMORPG (Massive MultiPlayer Online Role Playing Game) community, then you must start staying on top of the news with your game. It is hard to have fun if you are trying to play an online game with a dial up internet connection. We're not quite sure what to tell you if you have an old, slow PC - do something to upgrade. We know it's not always possible to have the latest and greatest, but the closer you can get yourself to what you need, the better it will be. You can easily find out what kind of performance you'll need just by looking at the specs on the game box. You just need to do a little bit of research which could possibly prevent being upset if you buy it, and it is not working as it should on your system.
Always try to be gracious and avoid being negative to others, especially those are may not have a talent for the game. Also, other people may do that to you, but avoid responding in a negative way - don't let it get to you. People flaming each other never results in anything good, and it tends to ruin the fun atmosphere and energy.
You should also be ready to step up and give directions when the situation calls for it. It is okay to make sacrifices for your team-playing a way that is different than you are used to can help the team and makes playing more fun for everyone. If you refuse to give any of your ground, you won't have very many people who want to play with you. Try to keep the team's best interest and enjoyment as your priority.
While it can be, and is, serious; online games are serious fun - people just want to have fun and relax. Just keep things in their proper perspective so you don't get too emotionally involved and forget to have fun.
The whole point to online gaming is to have fun. This is what most game creators have in mind when they are building these complicated universes. Of course, if you want to have the best time possible there are some things that you need to do. You need to have the right equipment (left handed mouses and keyboards if you are a leftie). Don't forget to be a humble gamer who takes advice well and treats people in a cool way. Remember: gaming is always more enjoyable when everyone has fun!
