In paintball, many have made it a personal quest to turn their paintball gun into a fine tuned piece of equipment. It makes sense too, as the paintball marker in paintball is often considered by many to be the most important asset on the paintball field.
When looking for upgrades, one can almost be dizzied by the amount available, especially if you have a Tippmann, Ion, or Spyder type marker. Heck, there are so many accessories and gear for Sypder paintball markers that some people have built there own entirely out of aftermarket parts!
To help you on your journey in creating the best paintball gun possible, you should be aware that not all accessories are created equal. Some players care only about speed, and solely focus on upgrades that increase their markers rate of fire. While it can be helpful in some situations to pop off 100 rounds per minute, it isn't always necessary. More important aspects such as accuracy should be built up. In short, if you can't hit what you're aiming at then you can't eliminate the opponent! So spare the speed upgrades for later, and boost your markers accuracy first.
Few people would argue that accuracy isn't important - well, at least the smart ones wouldn't. Too many moments arise in paintball where accuracy is needed. Whether its that solo foot that's poking out behind a bunker, or that elbow that keeps popping out, accuracy can definitely play an important role in those situations.
Which upgrades can boost your markers accuracy? There happen to be 2 that can do this. The first happens to be the barrel (go figure!). When you want to shoot accurately, it is important to have a barrel that fit's the paint you are shooting. If you have one that has an inner diameter that fit's the outside diameter of the paint you shoot, without too much restriction, then optimal accuracy will be achieved.
The second accessory that boosts accuracy is the stock - the ending note of this article. A paintball gun stock will act as a brace for your paintball gun, allowing it to be more stable when firing, which reduces slop and improves your shot placement consistency.
