Pictures Of Wild Birds Bring Peace

by Pamela Hardy

The serenity of a photograph of an untamed creature always helps to calm a person down. Those who seek peace and respite from the modern stresses of the world look to pictures for solace and comfort. Pictures of wild birds and other creatures can't help but make a person feel centered and grounded once more.

The photographing of wildlife has a very old history. Nature has always lured people in, especially those who once upon a time lived in caves and hovels and looked to the untamed herds of animals and those that hunted them. The earliest cave drawings depict images drawn by man of creatures cavorting in tall grasses and across open plains.

Initially all the animals that man studied were untamed. When man learned to hunt, he learned to first watch other animals, seeing where they ate and where they wandered. Their survival tactics became man's survival tactics, as he mimicked their behaviour, especially that of predators.

Hunting was a big part of survival for ancient man. In more modern times, conservationism prevents people from hunting for sport in most countries. Instead, people are invited to capture images of wild animals with sketches and drawings and paintings, and more recently, on film.

People still enjoy seeing images of wildlife. Office walls and residential alike are decorated with such painted images. Digital photos show up as computer desktops and backgrounds for other modern devices. The vivid imagery of a bird taking flight catches the eye and one can almost hear the song that should accompany the picture.

More than anything, pictures of wild birds evoke a sense of flight and freedom from lives that are often seen as hum drum and boring. The bright feathers and the spreading of wings as an eagle soars or a hummingbird feeds from a flower soothes a person's soul and calms them down, despite their busy days. This is a gift from Nature itself that is meant just for mankind.
