Everything started to boil up in January 20 of the year 1917 when the team members from various horse exhibits set up a conference in the Big Apple. The council was then governed by Reginald C. Vanderbilt. The council's main goal was to bring together all horse shows and to carry out clean contests within the horse display ring. They then solidified the organization underneath the banner of the Association for American Horse Shows and upon its initial meeting that year 1918; excellent organizers of the twenty six esteemed horse shows were all found. Through the year 1924, the then 26 horse display members improved to sixty seven.
