Custom fish tanks make a distinctive decorative function for your very own home. But there's a lot more to looking after a custom aquarium than the fact that it looks fantastic. Fish are wonderful creatures and if you're going to hold them in captivity you've got a responsibility to take care of them.
You have to spend time planning the set up of your own tank in advance of getting your fish. Once set up, you need to learn how to clean out your custom fish tanks regularly. You should check your fish every day to ensure they are healthy. You would quickly notice if there's a problem because they'll stop eating and/or swimming around. You need to educate yourself about your new family.
Discover more about each species you own. You could do this easily from the internet, magazines or by joining a local hobby group. When you know how they are supposed to behave you'll spot any potential issues much earlier.
When decorating your custom fish tanks keep in mind the needs of the inhabitants and your own experience level rather than how good the tank would look. You might think plants will make the aquarium look pretty however they add another layer of care into the equation. If you are a novice you are probably best sticking to fake plants and other decorations at least initially until you become more experienced at looking after your new pets.
Fish need shelters and swimming place so you might want to plan your aquarium contents on paper before you drop by the store. One addition you might want to make is to get an aquarium backdrop. This paper or plastic accessory will conceal the plugs, filters etc but also the colour of the paint or the wallpaper on the wall behind the spot where custom fish tanks are located.
