Grown Flowers on Your Own and Save Your Cash

by Autumn Lockwood

If you're one of those individuals that loves growing things, then your yard probably has some sort of flower bed or other garden in it. Beautiful blooming flowers are a great way to add visual interest to your garden landscaping, and may add a burst of color that can really cheer you up. There are in fact lots of flowers to be had that are so easy to cultivate that all they need is a normal soil to grow in, some refreshing water once in a while, and some bright sunlight. However, in addition to the beauty they can add to the outside of your home, growing your own flowers can also be a great way to conserve money.

Creating Floral Arrangements from Your Own Flowers

If you have ever purchased flowers at a florist shop or even at your town grocery store, you were most likely shocked at how costly they can be. The arrangements of roses and other store-bought flowers are certainly lovely, but no more beautiful than the flowers you can grow in your own yard. In fact, many of the flower varieties that are easy to grow in your backyard are seldom seen in florist shops, because they are delicate and don't lend themselves to transporting well. By growing your own flowers, you'll have a constant supply of blooms which you can use to make floral arrangements for your home, without having to spend even a dime of extra money. In fact, if you grow perennial flowers, they will even come up every year without the need to buy new seeds and replant.

Producing Wall Art from Flowers

If you want your house to be decorated creatively, then try using wall art. Whether you prefer framed art prints, photographs or even paintings, you can easily use your own flowers to decorate and highlight your walls. Try pressing a few flowers between the pages of an old book. When they are dry, arrange them in a picture frame to create a beautiful and home grown wall art display. Or, try capturing some pictures of some of your own garden flowers when they're in full bloom. Take your photos to your neighborhood photography or department store so that enlargements can be printed. If you take photographs with a digital camera that is set on the highest resolution, you will probably be able to have your photos printed out in poster size. All that's left to do after this is to display them in your home after you've put the prints in picture frames. You will definitely enjoy this art displayed on your walls, since it will be just as pretty as most pieces you would be able to find at the store, and you will have the satisfaction of having gotten the picture yourself.

Transforming Flowers into Gifts

You may be shocked to discover that your garden can provide gifts for many a relation or friend. You could present a bouquet of fresh flowers for a housewarming gift, or maybe you are searching for a colorful gift for Mother's Day! Preserved flower petals can also be used for creating bath sachets, homemade soaps and body products, or simple potpourri. In fact, you could even turn the flower garden into a source of income by selling your garden creations at a community craft show.

So go start planting that beautiful garden of yours; you will marvel at the countless possibilities that will arise!
