It appears that with the reputation of tattoos and also the potential for high income, plenty of people would like to become a tattoo artist. Once you're a competent artist on paper, you'll need to create a portfolio. A portfolio is a case or perhaps binder that contains examples of your art, to exhibit your different skills.

The next thing you need is an apprenticeship. An apprentice is somebody who learns a skill from another person already skilled in the trade. Sometimes an apprenticeship could be free, but many times they cost thousands of dollars. You will need to look for a means to save or obtain the money needed for your training.

Then you need to find an apprenticeship - although not just any apprenticeship - you need to find the proper one for you. One with a master you feel you can truly gain knowledge from - not someone just offering apprenticeships to generate money.
