Whats Renault Working On Over The Coming Years?

by Andrew R. Ford

Not long ago, Renault named their new Operational Director, Tavares Carlos and additionally introduced their plans for the next few years. The mission of the new director is somewhat hard: he has to make the Renault brand a powerful name in both Europe and America but the company also wants to penetrate the Chinese market, especially in the niche of SUVs.

Then again, Renault is attempting to become an environmentally friendly company, so they are mounting solar panels on the roofs of their factories in France. The idea is the largest venture of its sort in the auto industry with more than 450,000 square meters of solar panels producing 60 megawatts of electricity or enough to power a town with a population of 20,000.

The development will begin in June and they will not be finished until February the coming year. This way, Renault wishes to reduce the effects of the pollution on the environment. There was in fact a similar project started by Seat in their Spanish factories.

The business is additionally doing their best to restore trust after the industrial espionage. Renault is making every effort to be an attractive brand for the general public and do their best to sell high end cars. The scandal triggered some harm to their image but it is only part of their present woes. The Renault officials confessed they have a pale image and the theme of some of their cars is somewhat obsolete.

Major changes began to take place at the company once Renault hired Laurens van den Acker as chief designer. An illustration of this is going to be the next generation Clio with its state of the art electronics and enhanced body and engine.

Furthermore, Renault sold 150 000 automobiles of medium and superior class in 2005 and the sales from a year ago hardly got over 100 000. The new line of Renault cars are not likely to hit the market before the 2014-15 season, they must do their best to exploit those cars that sell well in their current line. The press in France feel that Renault should make an effort to balance out the large divide between their partner, Nissan in the amount of cars sold as Nissan has sold over four million cars while Renault has sold 2.6 million cars.

Another issue that Renault has is the lack of presence in China but are trying to fix that between 2013 and 2016. Additionally, Renault does not enjoy any presence in the United States in any respect. There aren't any obvious plans about the American markets but Renault will try to consolidate its position in Russia and Brazil. As for the Indian market, they have been struggling somewhat but continue to produce new cars that will certainly appeal to Indian consumers.

So, for Renault to attain their goal of selling yet another 400,000 cars in the next few years, they will need to continue to innovate and improve the designs on all their cars.
