Simple Scrapbooking Ideas for Your Whole Family

Scrapbooking has become a very popular hobby, and for good reason. It allows you to keep your assortment of photos safe, present them in a unique and creative way, and also have a great time as well! While viewing pictures by themselves is ok, they are much more fascinating and fun to look at when they are organized in a scrapbook. There are so many different papers and accessories to choose from that you can essentially customize a scrapbook page to perfectly accentuate and display your photos. All of your family can have a great time with it too, which is an added benefit. If you are looking for a fun family activity, here are a few quick and easy scrapbook project ideas to get you started.
Framed Scrapbook Pages
Just because most scrapbook pages are viewed in albums doesn't mean they cannot be displayed inside picture frames if preferred. This method for displaying can be especially successful if you have a few pages that turn out particularly nice. It's also an excellent way to provide a constantly changing display of pictures in your home. You could switch a page from a scrapbook to a picture frame, then trade it with another page any time you would like a difference in decor. To create these pages as an activity for the family, provide everyone with a nice selection of photos. There are some cases, particularly when little kids are doing their own pages, that you will want to use duplicates of the pictures instead of the originals. Although you could just print as many duplicates as you want, if you are working with a digital camera. Give everyone a piece of scrapbook cardstock to use as a base for the page. Offer a good assortment of scrapbook paper, adornments, stickers and glues. If the kids are small, make sure you only use safety scissors. Scissors that cut decoratively cut edges can also be a lot of fun for children to use. It's usually a great idea to base your pages on a theme such as a favorite pet, a fun Christmas or Thanksgiving, or a vacation that everyone loved. When finished, display your favorite pages in basic scrapbook picture frames.
Personalized Scrapbook Albums
If you discover that your family truly enjoys scrapbooking, you can make it a regular pastime. Many families find that arranging a "family scrapbook day" each month or even weekly can be a lot of fun. Give each family member their own personal album which they can fill with the pages they decorate. Everybody should feel free to design and decorate their scrapbook to suit their tastes. Don't forget, when it comes to decorating photos with papers and other decorations, there really is no right or wrong way. During each day of scrapbooking everybody can focus on any number of pages, many or few. Each person in the family will have their own pace; some will spend all day working on one highly embellished page, while others might create numerous pages which are more simple in their structure. You will probably find that scrapbooking with each other as a family will help you create a whole new understanding of the importance of taking plenty of family photos. Your consistently scheduled monthly or weekly family members scrapbook session may just become one of your family's favorite activities.
The final thing you should know is that unless you're having a great time, you'll be missing the point of scrapbooking. So just enjoy hanging out with your family, relaxing and enjoying your time together.
