Easy Tricks For Professional Pictures Every Time

by Augustus Mays

You are just getting into photography and would like to know some of the best tips and tricks available to help you. It is important because you want to try to make the most out of all the pictures you take. Follow the guidance in this article and you should find the information you are looking for.

When photographing children, the best angle to take the picture from is their own eye level. Kneel down and put yourself at their height, snapping photos from the child's point of view. This will give you excellent pictures of a child, set in the world at their height. Most pictures of kids are taken looking down from an adult's point of view. This lends itself to many, many pictures of the top of a child's head or an awkward angle of their face.

If you are trying to photograph a person who is not cooperating, add another person to the picture. It will help the person to relax and you will get the picture you want.

Don't worry about taking too many pictures. It is helpful in being selective while taking pictures, but by taking too many you can capture surprising and unexpected images. With digital photography you can always delete any of the pictures that you do not like. You can also set the camera on burst mode and delete the pictures you don't like and keep the ones you do like.

Set up a "real" photo shoot. You could get a model off of one of the modeling sites that are scattered all over the internet, or you could just have a friend that is comfortable in front of your camera take a day to work with you. Either way you are going to get experience behind your camera and have fun doing it.

Don't stay inside when the weather is bad. Although it's natural to think a sunny day is the best time to grab the camera, overcast and rainy days provide an opportunity to get shots that would be hard to get at any other time. These weather conditions can give shots that would look neutral or cheery on a sunny day a dark and foreboding tone.

Most pictures are taken with the camera at or near the subject's eye level. Common sense says this is good, but get the "WOW" factor by changing the angle from which you shoot. Try shooting down at the subject from higher up or get close to the ground and shoot up.

Do things that you would otherwise think to be crazy. Put a small child in an adult size fireman's boots, hat and coat. Throw a woman in a pool with floating flower petals wearing a gorgeous wedding gown. These photos are sure to catch the attention of the passing eye and likely captivate the viewer.

Using the tips and tricks that you've just read, you can give yourself an excellent head start in building a creative and diverse photography portfolio. This knowledge will help you as you develop your skills in portraiture, landscape photography, sports and action shots, and even macro shots that bring you up close and personal with your subject matter.
