Photography 101: Everything You Need To Know

A lot of people see a gorgeous photograph and wonder if they would be able to create the same kind of image with their own camera using what they see in their every day life. There are a lot of tips and suggestions that are out there that can help you recreate any of your favorite images. Here are a few of them!
After you are finished taking pictures, try your hand at editing them. A popular technique for creating interest in a picture is to make an only one-color show. Make the image appear to be black and white, but for a single color or subject. This will create contrast, and draw the eye where you want it.
Don't be afraid to use a "digital darkroom" to touch up your photos. There are tons of image editing programs out there that will allow you to touch up color, reduce some blur, or add a filter to the photo. Some of the best photos were touched up using some kind of software.
Keep an eye out for all kinds of natural geometry when taking pictures. Pay special attention to any "lines" that your eye can pick up on in the area or on the subject that you will be shooting. Find the "line" and use it to take a good shot.
Be aware of what shooting mode you are in. For example, you need to know that when you decide to shoot in RAW that you will not have preset corrections that you can use when you upload them on the computer. You will, however, have much better post production quality output from this photo format.
When taking a picture outside, try to do so either in the morning or before the sun sets. This is because the sky is not as high in the sky during these times, so the subject of your picture will not have as much of a shadow as it would during the midday hours.
Be sure to buy a camera that has enough space on it or has the capacity to add a memory card. Often times, people find themselves having to delete pictures on their camera because they do not have enough space to take new pictures. Getting a memory card is a cheap option.
Decide if you are interested in a subject before you photograph it. Know that if a subject is seeming boring to you, it is going to be boring to future viewers of the image. Take some time to make your shots interesting, and you will be rewarded with better shots.
If you are taking a picture of something that is smaller than you, like a pet or a child, get down on their level. This way the angle won't affect the look of the picture. This will create a more personal and inviting picture that people will enjoy.
