RF Remote Systems Will Be A Great Convenience To You

by Christopher Handy

Home theater systems utilize two main types of remote controls: RF remotes, or radio frequency remotes, and IR remotes, or infra-red remotes. The majority of home theater systems are controlled by IR remotes. This means that a remote control must be lined up with the home theater gadgets in order for the gadget to be controlled. If an object obstructs the signal being sent between the IR remote and the gadget, the gadget will not be able to be controlled.

The basic difference between the IR and the RF remotes is the potential for the RF remote to travel through objects. They have been shown to be able to travel through people, furniture and virtually anything appearing between the gadget to be operated and the remote. The great benefit of the RF remote is not having it necessary to have everything precisely lined up in order to have things operating properly.

There are a number of different purposes served in the home by the RF remote. One big advantage they offer is optimization of space and reduction of clutter as all cables and the entertainment system can be housed behind doors that are closed. The cabinet doors are not required to be kept open. One can operate the gadgets easily and simply by just pointing the remote at the cabinet. The gadgets can be housed on lower shelves and operated easily without worrying about pointing the remote around household furniture or aimed at the floor.

If you want to expand the convenience of your unit, just pick up a tiny RF receiver that is used in conjunction with IR emitter cables. Once these devices are in place you will be able to operate your unit flawlessly through radio frequency. Using a RF controller, it will send out the RF signal which will be received by the tiny RF receiver that you purchased and placed near the device. The RF receiver then is able to translate the RF signal and relay it to the device using IR transmission. This IR is received by your IR cables and operates the system. Though it may sound complicated, it is easy to make the switch and effective as well.

It is important to realize that the RF receiver is only small in size and can be placed anywhere within the vicinity of your gadgets. The receiver box is able to be hidden out of view as the RF signals deriving from the RF remote can reach the receiver from almost anywhere. Your IR emitter cables should be plugged into the RF receiver and on the end of your IR emitter cables will be IR emitters. Your IR emitters connect to your gadgets.

After installation is complete the RF system will operate very easily and will help present a clutter free look to the room the system is installed in. This simply makes RF systems the ideal choice for all proud homeowners.
