Ice sculptures have become a popular and impressive addition to many different types of events, from corporate get-togethers to weddings and private celebrations. Ice allows sculptors to produce highly personal pieces of work as well as creating functional items such as ice bars. The raw material used adds a certain charm to the objects themselves.
Sculptures can offer a magnificent centrepiece or focal point to an event and can be designed for a specific audience or theme. The final effect depends greatly on the skill of the sculptor, although some ice sculptures are created using moulds and computer-aided machinery. The scale, subject and intricacy of an ice sculpture depend on the commission and the budget.
