Maui, otherwise known as "The Valley Isle" is one of the most sought after island destinations in the world. Maui gets about two and a half million visitors per year, and while most think of Maui strictly as a laid back tourist destination, it is actually home to a thriving, culturally rich art scene. Maui is home to thousands of artists and craftsmen working in all mediums. Even though the resident population does not exceed one hundred fifty thousand, Maui's population of working artist contributes to a highly active arts scene that includes arts organizations, galleries and museums.

As mentioned earlier, Maui's resident population is relatively small, with no more than one hundred fifty thousand residing there.
