For those who enjoy perfumed candles, why not consider making them at home? You can get paraffin wax in solid blocks and it is comparatively cheap. You can buy perfumed oils or you could make yourself.
If you have a garden that grows citrus fruit you have all the scent you would require. If you wish to create luxury candles, purchase beeswax instead as it releases a lovely honey smell as it burns. Candle wicks can be found at most craft shops. Be careful when melting wax as it can catch fire and never leave the pan unattended. You can buy cheap candle holders at your local garden center in the form of terracotta pots.
Other arts and crafts ideas may be turned into lovely inexpensive gifts. If you have a friend or family member with delicate skin, you could make them some hand cream. You can prepare your own rose water from petals or you may purchase it at most stores. You will also need some rose oil, almond oil, beeswax, glycerine, honey and a lemon. Melt the beeswax and glycerine together, stop the heat and then add the rose water and almond oil.
Finally, add the honey, lemon juice and rose oil. You will need to beat the mixture with an electric beater until it becomes cool. Put it in a pretty jam jar and decorate with a ribbon. It works wonderfully on dry hands, is much cheaper than a luxury hand cream and such an innovative gift is always liked. As you get more competent, you can move onto more difficult arts and crafts ideas. You may just find that family and friends start requesting you to make them one of your creations
