Equine Supplement Plus Typical Health Issues Of Cats

by Mark Givens

Equine supplements are great for your horse. There are occasions when tender loving care is not enough for your beloved pet. Take your cat for instance. If you're new to having a cat, you might be surprised to find that health problems are a common thing. No matter what breed of cat you own, health problems should be expected. Some may be genetic, while others can easily be prevented. No matter what breed of cat it may be, worms are a very common and recurring problem. Tapeworms, roundworms, as well as hookworms are some of the most typical that infect cats.

Cats who have problems gaining weight, difficulties with fleas, or if you find white specks inside his stool, you should have your vet test him for worms. Although they can be cured with medicine, worms may be fatal if they are not treated. Hairballs are the most frequent health problem for cats. All cats groom themselves on a regular basis, normally taking the loose hair that comes from their coats. From time to time, this free hair will gather to a ball and grow stuck in the digestive tract instead of passing through inside your cat's stool.

If your cat begins to cough and hack, he is normally coughing up a hairball. Although it can be rather nauseating in the end, most felines can dislodge hairballs without any troubles. In exceptional cases, a hairball can go through to a cat's intestine, resulting in a clog. Blockages are very serious problems, and can be life threatening if they aren't taken care of. If your cat becomes constipated, isn't eating properly, or features a very dull coat, he could have a blockage. If you notice any of these symptoms, you should take him to the vet quickly.

You may prevent hairballs and blockages by brushing your cat 2 to 3 times a week to get rid of loose hair. You may also feed him food that is meant to control hairballs also. Urinary tract infection is another common health problem with cats. Urinary tract infection is more common with male cats which haven't been neutered, even though females can suffer from this condition as well. Whenever a cat all of a sudden stops going to his kitty litter box, this problem is usually the cause. Another symptom is when the cat's urine starts to smell really strong.

For the horse, an equine supplement can do wonders. For your cat, there are things that you may do. If you think that your cat has a urinary tract infection, you must take him to the vet. Your vet can treat the problem using medicine, and make suggestions to help avoid this problem in the future. Previously, feline leukemia was the most important reason for death in cats. Nowadays however, there are vaccines available that could treat the disease. To treat the disease, your cat will have to be given the shot before he or she is totally exposed. Even though death doesn't take place immediately, cats which are exposed to feline leukemia normally don't have a long life span.
