Taking Part In Much Of Our Vacation Holiday Throughout Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows

by Yuko Talaga

I may not be the strongest skier, but Squaw Valley was my favorite vacation. Just got back from a trip there, and I have to say, it was fantastic. I don't really ski that much, but this resort made the whole winter vacation experience fun. There were so many things to do, I can't believe how fast the time went.

So first up, things we did outside. I'm not coordinated enough to be a skier. But they had plenty of activities offered by KSL Capital's Squaw that were more my style. Like cross country skiing. I was able to have a lot of fun outside, exploring Lake Tahoe. But I also wasn't at risk of skiing into a tree.

Although as much as I liked the cross country skiing, snowshoeing is just incredible. Walking on top of some seriously big snow drifts was cool. You can't imagine the beauty of hiking in Lake Tahoe this way, unless you've been there.

The coolest part was the sky lift. It was awesome seeing Lake Tahoe from a bird's eye view. I especially liked seeing all the wildlife that this guy has preserved, and the forests from such a high altitude.

The High Camp might have been my favorite part though. It might be weird to say that staying close to the hotel was really enjoyable, but there's so much cool stuff to do there.

Shopping is so much fun, because they have everything you need to outfit yourself. You can avoid the cold with the skiing jackets and pants. But you can also save your eyes with some of the great goggles they have to offer too.

And the restaurants, my god. I must have gained ten pounds on the brilliant gourmet pizza. Plus they had a restaurant just dedicated to crepes. Sweet and savory, they were absolutely to die for.

The Spa also needs to be seen to be believed. The pool was a dream, and the full fitness center meant I was able to take off the Irish Pub food weight. Came home looking the same as when I left. That's a big win, with how much I ate.
