Adventure Racing In the Hands of Gaming Characters

by Rob Sutter

Video game characters are unique in that they can be about as active or athletic as creators would like. The problem is that, for so long, we were stuck in a realm of simplicity with running and jumping, in which Mario has been such a noticeable name. In recent years, however, there seems to have been an influx of characters that have pushed their limits and then some, which makes them ideal for adventure running. Which characters, in particular, would be able to work best?

If you're talking about the "Assassin's Creed" games, there have been three different main assassins that you take control of. It doesn't exactly matter which one you would go with because between Altair, Ezio and Connor, you can't go wrong. Each of them has proven to be effective in the art of killing but that doesn't come without a great amount of athleticism. Between scaling large buildings and dashing from city guards, there doesn't seem to be physical limits for these three men.

Nathan Drake is not an assassin himself but he is nonetheless conditioned, which is what the "Uncharted" series has showcased. While he is quick on his feet, able to outrun just about any force that comes his way, I think that his athletic ability deserves to be recognized. While swinging from one pillar to another would cause others to lose their nerve, Drake simply does it. He's not someone who seems to understand fear, which makes him an even more effective competitor.

Would these men be able to prove themselves in the realm of adventure racing? I think that they would be able to excel and prove themselves as the most primed of physical specimens one can imagine. They have been able to prove their worth in other environments but seeing them compete with another may prove to be interesting. Spartan Race is home to competitors who will push themselves beyond limits, making these characters the ideal choices for people competing in these events.

These kinds of events are supposed to showcase the most battle-ready of athletes and even those who don't pride themselves on being athletic stand to take part in adventure racing. This means that people of all forms, regardless of how athletic they may be, can make success happen thanks to a high level of work ethic. It's not going to happen, though, if you are afraid of pushing yourself. If you aren't fearful or can cast fear to the wayside, you'll be able to work well.
