Astrology and Spiritual Events in London

by William Lear

Looking back over a past year is always filled with bittersweet memories. As well as the good times, you can't help but to reflect on the bad, on the things you wish you could change and the people you have lost along the way. I have lost some very close family members and friends this past year; people who, without a doubt, have left holes that simply cannot be filled. But the world has also lost some of its greatest and most influential figures of the last century too. Dear or 'celebrity', what I'm really talking about are those astonishing folk who, in some small way, have helped to shape the lives of many, far and wide, across this globe of possibility.

Three outstanding individuals who we lost in 2012 were the brilliant Roy Bradbury, Neil Armstrong and Sir Patrick Moore; all of which shared one common love of science. The first was Roy Bradbury, an extremely powerful writer of exploratory fiction and perhaps one of the brightest lights of the golden age of science. The second, was none other than the renowned voyager, astronaut and pioneer, Neil Armstrong. His famous 'small step' will always be remembered as a 'giant leap' for mankind. And as for the third, how could I not mention our radiant and much treasured Sir Patrick Moore? For it was his incredible endurance as a television presenter that did more to foster interest in the field of astronomy than anything else. He also was a firm believer that the answers to life's unexplained questions lay in the stars.

So, looking back at these three outstanding characters, we begin to see that their common denominator is that of science and pseudoscience. Sir Patrick Moore, Neil Armstrong and Ray Bradbury, as well as other men and women like them, all sought to expand our human horizons. They helped us to ponder our frailty, our mortality and our seeming insignificance within the cosmos order; and yet they also inculcated within us a deep sense of numinous awe and wonder.

But this isn't the end!

There are so many books, documentaries and films out there about these figures that they will long be remembered by scholars and us ordinary folk alike. On a further note, if you really want to get involved, there are a number of classes or events that you could attend. Take Home House of Portman Square for example, they have recently put on their own special 'Evening with The Stars'. Led by Carolyne Faulkener, chief translator for the stars and planets, this really was the height of obscure astrology mixed with spiritual understanding.

Home House is a social hotspot for people from all walks of life, which is part of its uniqueness. Quite unlike many other members only clubs in London, Home House is a place to enjoy leisure time or the perfect spot for a working day. Home House is London's most exclusive private dining experience.
