Adobe Elements To Restore And Repair Old Images

by David Peters

Photos are a great way of capturing those moments which will linger in one's memories for a long time. Sadly, however, photos aren't able to keep up with the same quality as time passes. Since pictures are simply paper they sometimes are affected by things like moisture, dust and scratches and even light. The result is you'll end up having photos which are too light, have scratches and are no more looking that good.

Well when your photographs are looking too old and they no more look that attractive what do you do? Do you throw them away or you simply watch them get even worse till they are no longer visible? Well worry not for with Photoshop Elements you will be able to recover all of your old photos so that they look great again as if they were taken only a few hours ago.

As photos are on paper and Adobe Elements is a computer program how then will you manage to use the application to restore and repair your old photographs? Well the answer is you have to convert your photographs to a digital format. You do this by scanning your pictures such that each picture could be saved as an image on the computer. Once you have scanned the pictures you are just one step to restoring and repairing them.

With Photoshop Elements you'll be able to open the scanned images of your photographs. When you open the pictures you can now edit them as you want using the tools which are provided by the software. One thing you have to remember is to backup the scanned images in order to always revert to the original ones in case of mistakes.

Now restoring your photographs while using Elements is quite simple and it doesn't require any skilled training, all the tools in the Adobe Photoshop Elements software are very simple and easy to use. The most common tools you'll use when fixing photos will be the smudge, blur and sharpen tool, these are the tools you definitely will need to get to grips with.

So we are gonna look at each of the three tools which you'll come across in Photoshop Elements and how you can use them in restoring your photos. First the smudge tool, this tool is very effective at masking any scratches that would have been on the original picture that you scanned. The smudge tool will also allow you to remove any object in the background you want to remove as well as correct photos that were not properly focused.

The next tool is the blur tool. This tool will permit you to add some tone to photos in order to appear darker than they originally did. This tool is extremely powerful when you are dealing with photos that have deteriorated due to long periods of exposure to sunlight. So you will be able to recover the color in your photos so that it looks bright and attractive again.

The final commonest tool you will definitely use when restoring photos is the sharpen tool. This tool is mostly used to fix parts of an image that may seem to be blurred. When you scan old photographs which are now very light in colour you will find that some of the parts will appear a bit blurred and this is what the sharpen tool is designed to fix.

Keep in mind there's no picture too old to be repaired by Adobe Photoshop Elements.
