Consider how the viewer's eye will follow the shot. Good shots have at least one point that will focus the viewer's initial attention. Better shots have multiple points of interest that act as a virtual tour of the photo. Example include a defined skyline, lines on a road, or items in the foreground that stretch into the background.
A great photography tip is to always be aware of your surroundings. Don't shut off your creative vision when you don't have a camera nearby. You should always be looking at things and visualizing. This is a great way to stay fresh creatively and to always be inspired.
Use a rather low ISO. A good ISO is around 200. Using this range of ISO will make your pictures look dark in certain situations, but you can easily change the contrast and light on a computer. If you use a higher ISO, you will get a lot of noise on your picture, which makes editing harder.
When you are making the decision of which of your photographs to display or show make sure that you choose your best ones. Do not show every photograph you have ever taken or too many of the same subject matter. It can get very boring for others to see the same thing over and over again. Keep it fresh and show different aspects of your photography.
When showing off your photographs, make sure to keep your less than perfect pictures at home. You do not want people to see your sub-par work; you only want them to see your best work. Delete any pictures on your camera that you do not want anyone else to see.
Use a tripod for maximum camera stability. For random shots of your kids or buildings, a bit of camera shake isn't a big deal, but for once-in-a-lifetime shots that really matter, a bit of camera shake can ruin a perfect memory. If a tripod is not available, try setting the camera on a flat surface.
Make sure you hold the camera correctly. Holding the camera correctly reduces the chance that an inopportune movement ruins your shot. Hold the camera with your arms close to your body and the palm of your hand under the camera to prevent the camera from falling or shaking.
If you are planning to take photos in a new country go straight to the postcard rack. Postcards can help you gain new ideas of the scenery that is unique to the country that you are in. Use these photos as ideas for the spots that you want to visit.
A great photography tip that can help you out is to be realistic about your work. You can't expect to be a creative genius at all times. Art has a lot of ups and downs and if you're expecting to always be on top, you'll become very discouraged.
