Have You Ever Thought About Using A Golf Launch Monitor?
by Terrance Haney
It may have helped that I worked at a golf course and could play 9 holes for about $ 4. Maybe that is why on a very good day I could shoot in the upper 30's for those 9 holes. Today no one wants to spend $ 40 for a round of golf and be grouchy in the end because they have just exceeded their handicap by a half dozen strokes.
One thing that has changed about golf for many years is the sheer number of golf training assistances making their way to the marketplace. Obviously it helps when a professional promotes these golf devices due to the fact that novices see or think that the pro uses a particular product. Perhaps my memory is not exactly what it used to be however I don't recall in mind seeing all of these training gadgets some 30 years ago and especially don't remember them being used on the practice range.
Here is something new for me. I have actually downloaded an App on my wife's brand-new tablet that has some 15,000 mapped out golf courses combined with GPS. As you are playing a round of golf, this device combined with App tells you how far you have struck the ball and how far you are away from the green.
The product that I'm considering today is called a golf launch monitor. No specific brand name because if you research them, you will see costs varying from about $ 150 to many thousand of dollars. Essentially what a golf launch monitor does is to give you the launch angle of the golf ball off of the club. Some designs affix just below the grip on your golf club and will offer you a number of information points such as clubhead speed, swing plane, swing tempo, face angle, and where you strike the ball on the club.
Even better, relying on the golf launch monitor that you are looking at and combined with the correct App, the information from your swing will transfer instantly to your smartphone or tablet. You are now standing at the 5th hole and your initial 4 drives have all gone off to the right. You consider the data from the launch monitor and figure out that your swing path was too inside out. You are looking at a lake off to the right hand side of the green on this par 3 and are holding a 5 iron in your hand. Thanks to the golf launch monitor you will now make a simple modification to your swing.
I found out how easy it is to lower my golf score thanks to a <a href="http://www.golfgadgetsstore.com/golf-launch-monitor/">golf launch monitor</a>.
