Does Breastfeeding and Alcohol Mix?
by Shun Smith
Not really, but you can still participate in breastfeeding and alcohol at the same time. Drinking alcohol and breastfeeding is obviously better than giving your child formula.
But remember these products when you mix breastfeeding and alcohol:
* If the alcohol level in your blood is high, then it's exactly the same in your breast milk. Therefore if your baby is drinking alcoholic breast milk, they're basically getting drunk. Your baby's liver can't eliminate alcohol as quickly as one's body can, so it will affect your baby's sleep. Even way they develop.
* The quantity of milk your body produces is lowered. By having a drink, you're messing with your baby's milk supply, that will lead to a low extra weight for your baby.
Should you insist on mixing breastfeeding and alcohol, do these things at a minimum so your baby won't suffer so much:
* Reduce the level of alcohol you drink. If you're used to drinking 5 alcohol consumption a day, cut it into 2.
* Nurse your infant right before you start drinking.
* Don't nurse until your body feels completely normal again from drinking. If the baby wants to eat before this, give them pumped breast milk in case you have any stored. Or else, just feed them. It's still a lot better than formula.
If you're a drunk, meaning you're always drinking, and there is no time where you feel normal, or maybe that is normal, then you should consider feeding baby something else besides breast milk. If giving your child something else isn't an option for you, then you may just have to..... Stop mixing breastfeeding and alcohol.
Following it all, remember it's your option to decide which is more essential: Your baby, or your need to indulge in breastfeeding and alcohol to the point where it affects you skill to breastfeed on a regular basis.
And please, don't give up. If you're drinking due to stress from your job, then you need to get rid of your job.
I realize it's easier said than done, but it can be carried out.
If other people are doing, you actually can do it!
Stay home with your baby. Eliminate stress!
Because if you might be stressed, trust me, about to catch making as much milk because your baby needs. As well as your baby is definitely feeling your stress threshold.
When you are sad, your child is sad.
If you are happy, your baby is satisfied.
When you are stressed, baby is stressed.
Should you only drink occasionally, then you definitely won't harm your baby the maximum amount of.
But if you drink to the point of being intoxicated nearly all of time, then please stop......for the sake of your respective baby.......and yourself.
At least until your baby gets old enough where she doesn't be determined by you anymore......and that will be a long time! ;)
Stop drinking and acquire your life back on track!
