Creating the perfect photo book

by Raul Yates

It is not always easy to choose a gift that will really delight the person receiving it: practical gifts can be uninspiring while flowers and chocolate can seem to be unoriginal. A personalised photo book can offer the perfect solution as a truly individual present that can be enjoyed and treasured for years to come.

Make sure you choose photo book format of photo book that is best for the person receiving it. The smaller A5 photo books can be carried around or will make great addition to someone's bookshelves, while the large photo books make fantastic coffee table books that can be kept proudly on display. Consider these aspects when choosing your format.

It may be helpful to select the photos you would like to include before choosing the number of pages your photo book should have. Remember that you will need to use only the best photos in your book, so be selective in your choices.

You may wish to give your photo book a particular theme, especially if it is a gift for a special occasion. Compile a collection of photos to mark an important moment such as a graduation, or as a souvenir of a particular holiday or celebration.

Ensure your photo book has enduring appeal by only selecting the best photos for the collection. If photos are blurred, under or over exposed, or chop people's heads off they may undermine the gift's charm. You should, therefore, be selective in your choice and only go for those that are really worth including.

Forget agonising over finding a really personal gift before falling back in desperation on the same old safe bets, and create a photo book! Ideal as a birthday, anniversary or as a Christmas gift, you could also choose to offer a photo book for Mothers' or Fathers' Day or simply to share precious memories.
